August 31 – September 3 – The Lakeland Rodeo Association will be back in St. Paul to fill the stands of the Clancy Richard Arena for the 2023 finals! The LRA and St. Paul Ag Society have a great relationship and are always planning and adding to the event. ‘Rodeo Week’ for the full schedule of events.

How It All Started
In 1988 Diane Bailey, Richard Gottenbos and Dorine Kuzma decided to bring the LRA Rodeo Finals to St. Paul for 5 performances. The prize money has been growing every year – making it one of the best rodeos in North Eastern Alberta.
Our First LRA Finals in St. Paul Featured…
- The Rodeo Queen Contest which included components of horsemanship, public speaking, brunch and a fashion show.
- Every year, the St. Paul Chamber of Commerce welcomes the LRA by hosting the Chamber Kick Off Supper. In the beginning, the first meal was held at noon and usually consisted of a stew or pork and beans. They have grown to a catered supper meal which is being attended by many town and county businesses.
- Other popular events in 1988 were the Pancake Supper, Casino, Mutton Bustin’, Armbender Championship, Truck Pull, and 10K or 2K Fun Run.
- A highlight of the weekend activities is the Saturday morning parade which has been growing every year and could easily be one of the biggest parade held in Northeast Alberta. Each year, a popular community theme is selected.
- Another popular event is the Rodeo Beerfest held on Saturday night of the weekend. What started as a simple Western Social held on the Friday and Saturday of the Rodeo has grown into the signature social event of the year in St. Paul.
